The artist line-up for the upcoming Corona Sunsets Festival World Tour in Cape Town has been announced as Festival embraces nature’s sunset moment, encouraging all to relax & unwind.
The music line-up for the Corona Sunsets Festival World Tour event has been announced with South African stars the Scorpion Kings, Sun-El Musician and Bongeziwe Mabandla, and international artists Maribou State, Ry X and Nightmares on Wax headlining the global music & lifestyle festival to take place at The Glen Country Club, Clifton, Cape Town, on April 6.
A unique music experience and global touring festival, launched in Cape Town last year, the Corona Sunsets Festival World Tour follows the sunset worldwide and features dynamic, genre-defying DJs and captivating live musicians performing as the sunset takes center stage at iconic, natural beach destinations across the globe, including South Africa, Brazil, Italy, and China.
Considered a pioneering powerhouse of South African dance music, the Scorpion Kings are the irrepressible duo of DJs Maphorisa and Kabza De Small (whose song “Imithandazo” has spent over 12 weeks on the SA charts with over 10 million streams) and bring their Amapiano sounds to the Sunsets Festival World Tour’s spectacular Mandala Stage.
Also highly anticipated are Afro-house & electronic star, Sun-El Musician as well as the exceptional, ever-evolving Bongeziwe Mabandla whose recently released song, “amaXesha”, sees him use isiXhosa lyrics with electronic ambience and hook-laden synth melodies.
Legendary Ibiza-based, UK DJ Nightmares on Wax (aka George Evelyn) brings his trip hop & chill wave sounds to Corona Sunsets Festival World Tour for the first time, along with other international artists including Grammy-nominated Australian multi-instrumentalist, Ry X, and acclaimed English electronica duo, Maribou State.
A transformative experience, the Sunsets Festival World Tour is renowned for encouraging festivalgoers to immerse themselves in nature, celebrate the sunset and reconnect with friends and their inner selves through the universal language of music, dance, and shared experiences.
Beyond the Mandala Stage, the festival area will include a lush, organic garden and serene Nest area as well as a ‘We Are’ area with a range of activities that celebrate unity over individuality, from body marbling to a digital detox workshop, aura reading, flower crown making and a Corona Studio Cinema showcasing recent Corona Studios films such as Free Range Humans and Tides of Wool. Festival goers can also expect eco-friendly culinary experiences with locally sourced ingredients, markets and installations from local artists which encourage festival goers to enjoy nature.
“The setting in Cape Town is one of the most unique on the world tour and really allows festivalgoers to detach from the digital world and reconnect with nature while watching amazing artists along with an incredible sunset and activities to unwind to. We believe we are our best selves in nature, and the festival invites travelers from far & wide to revel in the joy of existence and celebrate life's vibrant tapestry,” says Melanie Nicholson, Corona Head of Brand.
Important sustainability elements, meanwhile, include solar powered phone chargers and recycle stations with dedicated staff to educate & assist eventgoers with properly disposing of waste.
